Quasi-Static, Dynamic Compressive Properties and Deformation Mechanisms of Ti-6Al-4V Alloy with Gradient Structure

Gradient structure metals have good comprehensive properties of strength and toughness are expected to improve the dynamic mechanical materials. However, there few studies on gradient structured materials, especially titanium alloys. Therefore, in this study, ultrasonic surface rolling is used prepare a layer Ti-6Al-4V, quasi-static compressive coarse-grained Ti-6Al-4V (CG Ti64) gradient-structured (GS investigated. The results show that GS with thickness 293 µm formed. Ti64 higher than CG Ti64. Both exhibit weak strain hardening effects rate insensitivity during compression, not significantly improved. lateral expansion more obvious, while side relatively straight, indicating uniform deformation occurs ? phase produces dislocation cells local bands, lamellar transformed into ultrafine crystals after compression. them produce an adiabatic shear band under 2700 s?1, large crack forms Ti64, small crack, has better resistance damage. synergistic promotes obtain properties.
